Duchess of Cambridge’s favoured brand joins coronavirus fight with masks

The Duchess wore a padded black velvet headband when visiting the Republic of Ireland with husband Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. The brand, created by a Dallas born designer, sells headbands, jewelerry, handbags, sunglasses and belts amongst other items. Now, a set of three £32 face masks are available to buy on the brand’s website.


The description says: “Please note, these masks are not substitutes for medical-grade personal protective equipment.

“At Lele Sadoughi, we have made an initiative to fight Covid-19 by donating thousands of headbands with button hooks to help healthcare providers with comfort when wearing their medical masks.”

The masks are machine washable.

A set of two for kids older than three is available for £20.

New York-based digital designer Erin Hickey designed the artwork that appears on the masks.

Kate and William’s trip to Ireland took place in early March.

The trip lasted three days and saw the couple visit Dublin, County Meath, County Kildare, and Galway.

It was the first official visit either made to the country.

William and Kate were the first members of the royal family to visit NHS frontline workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic when the outbreak first began.

The visited a call centre in South London and made sure to stick to social distancing rules.

This was before lockdown began.

Several of the NHS Nightingale hospitals were opened remotely by members of the royal family.

William opened the Birmingham hospital by video link, Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex did the same for Bristol, Charles, Prince of Wales performed a video opening for the London and Cardiff hospitals and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall did the duties for the North West hospital in Manchester via a recorded speech.

In addition, Anne, Princess Royal opened the Louisa Jordan Hospital in Glasgow via video link, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex did the same for the North West Hospital via a video message.

Charles himself tested positive for the virus but has since recovered.

He remains in self-isolation with Camilla in Scotland.

Sophie has volunteered to help cook meals for NHS frontline workers, she has also spent time working to assemble parcels for foodbank delivery.

Though now no longer full-time working royals, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have volunteered in Los Angeles.

The royals are helping deliver food packages to vulnerable people who are unable to cook or shop for themselves.

Queen Elizabeth II made a rare special address to the nation during the crisis.
