Meghan and Harry's privacy demand may be 'problem' says expert
Meghan Markle and Harry’s two-month-old son was christened yesterday in a top secret ceremony at Windsor Castle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced a backlash over their decision to keep the event private.
The new parents have even refused to share the names of godparents, prompting intense speculation over who has been picked.
However, a royal source has told The Times that Harry’s school friend Charlie van Straubenzee is one of the godparents to little Archie.
Harry has been friends with Charlie since their school days.
And Charlie’s brother Thomas van Straubenzee is already godfather to Prince William and Kate’s daughter Princess Charlotte.
Sharing two pictures from the christening on Instagram yesterday, Meghan and Harry said how “fortunate” they were to have enjoyed the day with Archie’s godparents but they still have not revealed who they were.
Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney was the bookies’ favourite to be chosen.
And Harry’s former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke was spotted leaving the christening, sparking rumours she was among the godparents.
Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale featured in one of the christening pictures, suggesting Harry could have picked someone from his late mother’s family for the role.
A photo from the private event shows Lady Fellowes and Lady McCorquodale alongside Prince Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, the proud parents and Archie.
In the second snap, Meghan and Harry are posing with their tot in an intimate black-and-white shot.
Archie was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby in the castle’s private chapel in front of a small group of friends and family.
The adorable tot wore a handmade replica of the royal christening gown.
He was baptised using water from the River Jordan out of the silver Lily Font in accordance with royal tradition.
But Meghan and Harry have been accused of acting like "Hollywood A-listers” over the christening by public relations consultant Mark Borkowski, while royal expert Ingrid Seward said the situation had been “mismanaged”.
