Meghan Markle and Prince Harry pick nursery colour for royal baby amid gender row
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are opting for a grey and white nursery rather than blue and pink decorations amid reports they will raise their royal baby as gender neutral.
Meghan Markle told friends the sex of her baby says expert
The Duchess of Sussex is about eight months pregnant, with the baby due in April or early May. Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, are planning a gender neutral upbringing for their royal tot, according to a royal insider. This means the couple could avoid stereotypes such as pink for girls and blue for boys.
Or they could take it further and become one of a group of parents raising “theybies” - children who are not identified as male of female.
An insider told the Daily Mail: “Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby.
“She said they plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won't be imposing any stereotypes.”
Another royal source added that if they do raise their child as gender neutral there will be “balance”.
The source said: “They'll have the baby and then decide how to raise it.
“If they choose to go down a gender neutral route then there will be a balance.
“If it is a boy, they will dress him like a boy and if it's a girl they will dress her like a girl.”
Kensington Palace today refused to comment on whether the baby will be raised as gender neutral.
But if true, the baby is believed to be the first royal to have such an upbringing.
Meghan and Harry are moving to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor ahead of the baby’s arrival.
The 10-bedroom Grade II listed property has been undergoing renovations, which are believed to include a nursery painted in grey and white shades.
With just weeks to go until Meghan give birth, speculation is high over whether the couple will have a little girl or boy.
A friend of a guest at Meghan’s extravagant New York baby shower revealed that the duchess “talked openly” about having a boy.
But pink decorations spotted at the bash at exclusive hotel The Mark sparked rumours that the child could be a girl.
At a royal engagement in January, Meghan insisted she and Harry were keeping the baby’s gender a surprise.
