Buckingham Palace maid: State banquets take months to prepare
The rare vacancy to work for the monarch is being advertised on the Royal Household website. The Trainee Butler will be based at Buckingham Palace but the role involves travel to other royal residences. The successful candidate will “deliver functions of all scales” for the royals.
The advert says: “By joining our well-established career pathway, we will help you become an all-round hospitality expert.
“Learning from our experienced team, you'll deliver a hospitality service to the highest standard.
“You’ll deliver functions of all scales, from official lunches and receptions, to state occasions, providing an exceptional guest experience for all.
“But it's the thorough preparation that ensures success. And so you'll learn all the specialist professional skills needed to make sure presentation and delivery is seamless.”
Perks of the job include living at the palace with meals provided and a generous pension scheme, while the salary is £19,935.80 per annum.
And the candidate will even have the chance to complete a Butlering qualification.
The Queen is looking for an “outstanding team player” to fill the position.
Accuracy, attention to detail and a helpful attitude are also required.
The advert says: “Although we can guide you on how to deliver an exceptional service at a wide range of events, you'll already have a polite, friendly and approachable working style, and will be able to communicate with all kinds of people.”
And the Trainee Butler will “get satisfaction from a job well done”.
Previous hospitality experience is not essential, but it would be a plus.
The closing date for applications is February 17.
It comes after the Queen was recently advertising for a Sous Chef and a Chef de Partie to cook for her at Buckingham Palace.
Last month, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall were looking for a Personal Assistant to join their team.
