'Brexit is the cancer of the Tory Party' Heseltine blames anti-EU obsession for ruining UK
LORD Heseltine delivered a damning verdict of Theresa May's tenure in power and said that Brexit was "the cancer gnawing at the heart of the Tory Party".
Lord Heseltine: 'Brexit is the cancer of the Tory party'
The Conservative grandee did not hold anything back in his scathing assessment of Brexiteers, who he said have torn apart the Tory Party to get their way.
His comments come after the shambolic election results this week that have forced the Conservatives to start talks on an informal deal with the DUP to stay in power.
Lord Heseltine, who was sacked by Mrs May at the start of her premiership, said if the Tories do not lance the boil of Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn will become prime minister in months.

Lord Heseltine suggested the EU may offer the UK a better deal now
Speaking to Andrew Marr on the BBC, the Conservative former deputy prime minister said any deal done with the DUP would be "inherently unstable" at such a critical juncture.
In a shocking on-air assessment, the Tory stalwart said the election results proved that the Conservatives had to ditch Brexit or face electoral oblivion.
Lord Heseltine said: "Brexit is the cancer gnawing at the heart of the Conservative party. It is not about changing the leader, it is changing the policy.
"We need a period of contemplation to think through who and what our argument will be, to stop Corbyn being PM.
"There is no stability, there is no united view in the present circumstances.
"If the Tory Party does not lance the boil of Brexit, then you open the door of Corbyn. "

In the Sunday papers, Lord Heseltine suggested the EU may offer the UK a better deal now, allowing it to stay in the EU without having to accept free movement.
He repeated this on the BBC, telling Marr that a new Conservative PM could get a deal, including on immigration, "that could keep us in the European family".
On the prospect of Mr Corbyn becoming Prime Minister, the Tory peer said: "Jeremy can wait and byelections will give him what he needs when the public mood is clamouring for change.
"We have an economy that will not improve and Brexit will expose our failings.
"We will face another general election soon enough."
