PMQs LIVE: Theresa May blasts Labour spending plans as IRRELEVANT ‘they will make a mess!'
THERESA May and Jeremy Corbyn faced each other in the chamber in a heated bout over spending plans, employment and benefits.
PMQs: May BLASTS Labour with John McDonnell book
Theresa May said: “That is the equivalent of £35k for every household in this country.
"That would mean higher debt, higher taxes, few jobs. Labour, just taking us back to square one.”
But Jeremy Corbyn rebuked the Prime Minister and said she was “completely out of touch”.
The opposition leader said: “I think the Prime Minister is completely out of touch of what universal credit is about.
“£50 per week worse off, weeks worth of waiting, people going into debt, people losing their homes, people stressed out beyond belief because they can’t make ends meet and have to go to the food banks.”
But the Prime Minister said people who are moved onto the benefit will have protraction and 22,000 people will find jobs.
Mrs May says: “700,000 people getting the extra money they are entitled to.
"We are not replicating the old system, because the old system didn’t work.”

Mr Rees-Mogg says there have been reports that the European Court of Justice will have authority after Brexit.
Theresa May says there are all sorts of reports about Brexit but she is working to deliver Brexit people voted for.
12.34pm update: May condemns killing of journalists
Theresa May said: "We condemn the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the strongest possible terms and after his disappearance we made clear that Saudi Arabia must co-operate with Turkey and conduct a full and credible investigation.
"The claim that has been made that Mr Khashoggi died in a fight does not amount to a credible explanation so there does remain an urgent need to establish what has happened in relation to this."
She said she will speak to King Salman on Wednesday and Home Secretary Sajid Javid is "taking action against all suspects to prevent them entering the UK".
She told MPS: "If these individuals currently have visas, those visas will be revoked today."

On non-disclosure agreements used to hide harassment, Labour MP Jess Philips says: “It seems our laws allow rich and powerful men to pretty much do whatever they want as long as they can pay to keep it quiet."
She said the agreements “silence women who have been sexually harassed and others who have been racially abused".
May replied: "I can't comment on a particular case that is currently before the courts."

SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford has asked the prime minister to “finally commit" to end the sales of arms to Saudi Arabia after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
He calls on May to condemn the killing "in the strongest possible terms”.
He says Saudi Arabia has not yet provided a "credible explanation" for the murder.
Theresa May claims this was legitimate as approved by UN Security Council.

She said:"People need to know that their hard work has paid off and, because of their sacrifices, there are better days ahead."
She claims debt is going down and support for public services going up.
