The Samsung Gear S3 is set to get a great new travel app
Travel fans will now be able to look to their smartwatch for inspiration thanks to a new launch from Samsung.
The South Korean firm has announced a tie-up with Lonely Planet for a new app targeting globetrotters with its Gear S3 smartwatch.
Costing £349, the Gear S3 is available from Samsung's online store, as well as a number of high-street retailers now.

Lonely Planet has also designed a number of exclusive watch faces for the Gear S3
Available to download today, the app will let Gear S3 users browse through Lonely Planet’s library of the world’s top travel destinations, including its travel tips and guides.
Spanning over 50 cities across the world, the app will show off the top places that are relevant to the user’s location, but it will also enable users to bookmark or route directions to destinations of interest.
Users can partner the app with their smartphone to send over trip suggestions, which can then be shared with friends using the mobile device.
The Lonely Planet team has also designed four exclusive travel-themed watch faces for the Samsung Gear S3, which includes added features such as destination details, weather information and a world clock.
The new themes are available for download now in the Samsung Galaxy Apps store.
The Samsung Gear S3, which was first revealed back at IFA in September, is available in two styles, dubbed Frontier and Classic.
Frontier has been designed to act as both a fitness-minded watch, as well as a leisure wearable.
Meanwhile, the Classic variation “pays homage to the minimalist, elegant style found in the most iconic timepieces,” according to Samsung.

Both variants of the Gear S3 keep the same spinning bezel mechanism that made Samsung's previous devices such a departure from other smartwatches.
They both also come with IP68 water resistance and built-in GPS, making the Gear S3 ideal for those who like their smartwatch to be a bit more rugged.
Users can also customise the look of their device thanks to a number of watch faces and apps that are available to download straight to the Gear S3 itself, rather than having to go through a smartphone first.
