'Best smartphone' of the year confirmed - does iPhone or Android come out on top?

The T3 Awards have just been announced and Android has taken the top spot for smartphones in 2024.

The greatest smartphone of the year has just been announced by the gadget team at T3 and Samsung is taking all of the glory in 2024. The Korean firm's premium Galaxy S24 Ultra has just picked up the gong for "Best Phone" at T3's prestigious awards in central London fending off competition from the likes of Apple's iPhone 15 and Google's Pixel 8 Pro.

The S24 Ultra has been tough to beat in 2024 thanks to its powerful performance, impressive quad camera and new AI capabilities that can retouch images automatically and even allow it to translate foreign phone calls in real time.

Samsung’s flagship call maker wasn't the only winner on the night. Apple also now has a bunch of awards to pop in their cabinet. The firm won the Innovation Award for its spaced-aged Vision Pro headset plus it grabbed gongs for the Reader's Choice Award (MacBook Air M3), Best Smartwatch (Apple Watch Series 9) and Best Laptop (Apple MacBook Air 13-inch).

Other brands to take home prizes included Bose for the Product Of The Year (QuietComfort Ultra Headphones), Mercedes for Best Car (E Class E3003), Amazon for Best Smart Speaker (Echo Show 8) and Sonos for Best Wireless Speaker (Sonos Era 300).

The Best 8K TV went to Samsung's QN900D and Best Folding Phone was handed to OpenPlus for its OnePlus Open device.
