Samsung's latest breed of TVs have just gone on sale with these upgraded 4K and 8K screens featuring clever AI which makes sure you're always getting the very best experience. Now the Korean firm is bringing that very same technology to its popular range of desktop monitors. The all-new Odyssey OLED G8 is the first 32-inch flat desktop display that gets 4K UHD visuals, a 240Hz refresh rate and clever AI built in.

Samsung says the G8 features the same smart NQ8 AI Gen3 processor found in its 2024 flagship TVs which is capable of upscaling all content for improved entertainment and richer-looking gaming. Upscaling basically fills in the blanks when viewing things that are being streamed in a lower resolution and Samsung's new intelligence is able to do this faster and with better end results.

Alongside the premium Odyssey G8, Samsung is also launching an Odyssey G6 model as well which features a 27-inch screen with impressive 360Hz refresh rate - that makes it perfect for a night of PC gaming.

Both new OLED models also feature Samsung OLED Safeguard+. This is a new proprietary burn-in protection technology which is the first to prevent annoying discoloration and other issues by applying a pulsating heat pipe to the monitor.

The OLED screens are glare free, offer a brightness of 250nits and have been slimmed down to make them look less bulky on your desk.

How to update the software on your Samsung TV

Like all of Samsung's monitors, you can use them during the day for boring spreadsheets but then transform them into a mini TV at night thanks to built-in Wi-Fi and instant access to apps such as Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+

Prices for the Odyssey G6 OLED models start from £799.99 - the G8 costs over £1,000 - and they will go on sale later this month.

If that sounds a bit expensive then Samsung has also refreshed its lower-cost ViewFinity and Smart Monitor models which start from just £249.99.

All will be on sale via Samsung's UK store and at Currys.

“Our latest monitor lineups deliver a breadth of options to users globally and create better experiences, no matter how people use them,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “From the groundbreaking AI-powered Odyssey OLED gaming monitor to multi-device experiences in the Smart Monitor and ViewFinity lineups, Samsung remains committed to redefining the market and delivering cutting-edge technologies to users everywhere.”
