Pinterest has added roughly 70 million users over the last year, according to figures from Hootsuite. The platform, which is as old as Facebook and Twitter, has grown by 20 percent but it still doesn't command the same presence as either. Many people may have made an account when the site first emerged and now want to delete it.
How to delete your Pinterest account
Pinterest presents its disenchanted users with two options; deactivation or closure.
Closing a Pinterest account deletes it, and scrubs the presence of the user from the platform.
Anyone wanting to do so needs to follow six steps to delete their account.

To delete a Pinterest account, do the following:
- Click the three dots at the top of Pinterest
- Select edit settings
- Click account settings on the left-hand side of the screen
- Click delete account
- Tell Pinterest why you're closing your account and click next
- Click send email
- Select the email address associated with your Pinterest account to confirm
Public profiles will delete immediately following closure, but it will take longer to disappear.
Those who have closed their accounts will need to wait two weeks until the process finishes.
While it takes a little while, it does give people a chance to reactivate their account if they change their mind.
Anyone having cold feet about their decision needs to log in with their email and password, after which Pinterest will send them a link to reactive their account.
