With summer on its way, lots of people are looking to refurbish their space and refresh their interior design. In order to make your home brighter and more in tune with the trends of 2026, there are a few simple changes you can make.

You don’t have to renovate your entire home - a couple of small switches is all it takes to have a gorgeous home that looks modern and beautiful. Marie Goodwin, head designer at decorative fabric specialist Prestigious Textiles has shared her favourite trends that are beginning to show in modern homes. Her first trend is Mediterranean-inspired homes.

This colour palette is rich in earth tones - olive greens, ocean blues and fig purples.

Marie said: “Homeowners are gravitating towards Mediterranean-inspired interiors, embracing a slower, more relaxed way of living that evokes the ease of time spent abroad.

“Whether nodding towards this palette through scatter cushions and rattan finishes or committing with upholstered furnishings and full-length curtains, it offers a subtle way to introduce personality and freshness to any scheme.”

In a similar vein, blue tones are experiencing a resurgence. Specifically, cobalt blues are beginning to trend.

Marie said: “The brightness of cobalt blue taps into the emotional link between vivid blue hues and coastal landscapes, evoking the escapist and transportive feeling people seek during the summer.

“To amplify the colour’s impact, pair it with contrasting hues like berry red or fresh green to balance the space and bring out its freshness in time for the warmer months”

Playful prints and tapestries are another couple of trends that Marie loves for 2026. She said: “Many are opting for smaller scaled prints and weaves that add personality into their homes without making the room appear heavy, especially for summer”

“Ditsy florals or elevated animal-inspired prints work perfectly alongside the trending spring colours mentioned previously and pair beautifully with tactile materials and weaves.”

Marie has also seen a rise in the popularity of tapestry. She said: "It can be introduced as a focal point in curtains and upholstery in daring geometric patterns or balanced in complimentary tones across scatter cushions or throws for a more cohesive final result.

"Pair its richly woven texture with relaxed materials like linen or brushed cotton to ground its complexity, allowing the scheme to feel curated rather than overly decorative."

The Pantone 'Colour of the Year', Cloud Dancer, is also creeping into interior design trends.

Marie explained: “As we move into the summer months, I’m seeing the shade becoming increasingly popular across blinds and semi sheer curtains, offering the perfect on-trend way to brighten interiors whilst maintaining privacy.

"It’s understated quality makes it a great neutral base for layering with soft colour - think hazy blues, gentle greens or warm earthy tones that add interest while maintaining the weightless quality of a cloud."
