If you’re lucky enough to have a flat with a balcony or house with a garden, you’ll likely want to be able to stand on it to get some fresh air, or if it’s big enough, sit on it and appreciate the view around you.

That’s why one man decided to “transform” his balcony from plain and drab to a whole new level.

What’s more, he managed to complete the transformation, which he showed off on his @ourhome_andaway account, for less than £200 - and people were seriously impressed, with the compliments rolling in thanks to what he’d managed to do on a budget.

He admitted it’s “not the biggest space in the world”, but he wanted to “sort the floor out” first because it was looking worse for wear and mossy.

“I got the Dettol out, I got the hot water out, gave it a good scrub, plenty of elbow grease with a hard brush and it came up a treat”, he said.

He said that he “could’ve probably kept that flooring” because he was pleased with what he’d achieved, but he “didn’t”.

He cleaned the railings and painted them with “black metal paint” and they looked as good as new.

“It took one coat and it didn’t take long at all and it also dried really quickly”, he added.

He then laid the flooring saying that he opted for the click flooring from Ikea, choosing a “wood effect one”.

He said it was “easy to fit and didn’t take long”.

He then gave it a “good clean and a good hoover”, saying it looked “so much bigger and so much fresher”.

The TikToker then showed what it looked like with furniture on it, showing off his “little bistro set” and saying: “It’s the perfect spot to admire the view and have a nice drink on a sunny day”.

In the comments, someone suggested: “Looks great, what about some flower pots?”

Another complimented: “This is beautiful, what a perfect little space! Imagine that first morning coffee on a sunny day”.

Someone else penned: “I was sceptical that you could do much with the space. Then with not too many embellishments, it looks amazing. Congrats.”
