Rust is one of those really annoying things which can be hard to fix.

It might be that your favourite bike or pan suffers from the brown stuff and it usually becomes a headache to solve yourself.

Now in light of a TikTok video shared by @jack.designs, who boasts 1.4million followers, the experts at online metal supplier metals4U revealed how to use white vinegar to fix the problem.

The poster is known for his cleaning hacks and Sunday reset videos. He recently shared five ways to use white vinegar as a natural cleaner.

While the experts suggest using white vinegar on outdoor metal furniture, Jack advises soaking metal plugs for around 10 minutes to banish water marks and scrum. This can leave them shiny and spotless.

And the effectiveness of white vinegar in rust removal can be seen in its online popularity, with "white vinegar rust removal" being searched an average of 60 times per month on Google.

It's no secret undiluted, distilled white vinegar could be used to remove rust from metal outdoor furniture that has been damaged by wet weather and it can be bought for as little as 35p.

Either spray the vinegar or place a cloth soaked in vinegar on the affected area before rinsing with water or gently rubbing with a steel scourer in the direction of the grain to remove stubborn deposits.

Meanwhile, white vinegar can be used for other things too as Jack revealed it could promise a steak-free finish on stainless steal, glass and mirrors.

I LOVE white vinegar and use it pretty much without fail every-time I do a reset. Its such an effective natural cleaner, plus very affordable. Here are a few ways I use white vinegar: 1. Soak metal plugs for around 10 mins to remove water marks and scum and leave them shiny! 2. Spray on stainless steel for a streak free finish 3. Use on glass or mirrors for a streak free shine 4. Use as a natural fabric softener (it wont smell of vinegar) 5. Place a good amount in a dish, on a hot wash in the dishwasher, to neutralise odours and make it shiny #cleantok #cleaningtiktok #cleaningtips #cleanwithme #cleaningmotivation #cleaninghacks #whitevinegar #asmr

He also showed how it's useful as a natural fabric softener, which surprisingly won't leave your appliance smelling of vinegar.

One of his examples involved placing a good amount in a dish then putting on a hot wash in the dishwasher to neutralise odours and make it shiny.

Since it was shared, it garnered 11,800 likes and 2,500 shares. One said: "More tutorials on cleaning *love heart emoji*."

Another added: "My favourite cleaning videos." While a third commented: "Love white vinegar."

Meanwhile a fourth chimed in: "Vinegar is so much better instead of fabric softener for my skin. It also makes my towels feel really nice." Then a fifth posted: "Use white vinegar all through my house!"
