White socks can be a nuisance to keep clean, especially if you have little ones who love scampering about in their socks. However, one mum has shared her two go-to products to ensure her child's socks stay clean and white.

She says the hack even works to remove grime from her son running out into the garden in just a pair of socks.

Kaye Marie is a mum and cleaning and lifestyle influencer who shares everything from household hacks to fashion and lifestyle tips on her TikTok page @kayemarie53.

She said: "This is how I keep my little boy's white socks white. If you're a boy mum or dad you are going to feel my pain. He will even walk into the garden with white socks on, it ruins my life."

She revealed that she uses two specific products to lift stubborn dirt and grime. While they are commonly used to sterilise breast pump parts, baby bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic cutlery and weaning items, the savvy mum shows how she also uses them to sterilise and clean her son's socks.

Ace for Whites is a specially formulated laundry black specifically designed to brighten dull whites while still being gentle on delicate clothes.

You can buy Ace for Whites on Amazon for £8.20 for a one-litre bottle or from Asda for £2.30.

"This bleach is so powerful I love it," she said. "Sorry, no measurements, I just eyeball it and throw it in."

She advises making sure the socks are completely covered with boiling water and then all you need to do is leave them to soak.

Once they have finished soaking, pop them in a wash cycle as usual and you should be left with clean and bright white socks.

Alternatively, natural household expert Karen Lee has recommended skipping bleach and using a homemade solution instead. She recommends using a mix of liquid laundry detergent, washing soda, hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice and water.

Karen said the longer you leave the socks to soak the better, revealing that her socks were perfectly white after soaking for two days.
