Secret to long life? Niece of 106-year-old spinster says being SINGLE has aged her well
THE niece of a 106-year-old spinster reckons the secret to her auntie living for over a century is simple - avoiding marriage and relationships.
She has a great sense of humour still, she has never lost it
She lived at home before moving to a care home due to a fall that left her needing full-time care.
Ms Dye’s independent lifestyle still surprises Ms Heaton, who even offered to change her curtains in her bedroom when she was 103, but Ms Dye had gone ahead and completed the job herself.
Ms Heaton said: “When she was 103, she asked if I could change some curtains for her in a bedroom.
"I said I would do it the next day and when I arrived she said 'do you like the curtains - look what I've done?’
”She changed them and carried some steps from the cellar up the stairs to her front bedroom.”
Ms Heaton is also impressed with her “great sense of humour”, whilst praising her dress sense.

She said: ”She has a great sense of humour still, she has never lost it.
“She does still dress herself and goes into the common room and chats with people.
"She has always loved her clothes and has always dressed immaculately."
Last year, Ms Dye was reunited with a friend she spent living through the harrowing war 70 years ago.
Kit Sollitt, 97, managed to get back in touch with her former neighbour after she read a news article detailing her 105th birthday.
That set in motion plans for an emotional reunion where the former close friends were able to roll back the years and reminisce of their wartime experiences sheltering from Nazi bombs in a cramped cellar.
