Summer is a time for getting out there and making the most of the sun.

With the heat, it normally calls for lighter coloured clothing to stay cool.

But unfortunately, stubborn stains and discolouration on your favourite white T-shirts can be annoying to deal with.

Alex Econs, garment cleaning expert and founder of ICON Printing, offers his tried-and-true methods for keeping your whites looking pristine through the hottest months of the year.

If your favourite white T-shirt is losing its brightness or becoming yellowed after heavy use, there's no need to worry.

Econs suggests a simple, eco-friendly solution that can easily bring your garments back to their sparkling best, and it’s only cost you 35p.

“To get your whites gleaming again, try a natural vinegar-based solution,” says Econs.

“Not only is this method gentle on the garment, but as vinegar is less toxic than bleach, it’s more eco-friendly too.”

Creating this effective cleaning mixture at home is straightforward.

Ingredients:

    • 1/2 teaspoon of washing powder
    • 1/4 cup of white vinegar
    • 1/4 cup of cool water

Application:

    • Mix the washing powder, vinegar, and water together.
    • Apply the solution directly to the stains.
    • Lightly brush it into any affected areas.
    • Wash the T-shirt right away.
