Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered all "non-essential" shops to shut on Monday while also urging Britons to stay home in order to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Only a handful of shops have been classed as "essential retailers" and have been permitted to stay open.
SCREWFIX
Screwfix stores are open and operating under normal hours - but only for existing "essential" click and collect orders.
For any orders that aren't deemed "essential" the company is asking customers not to go into stores to collect.
Screwfix says it will contact customers over the next few days to discuss options.
It has released the following update: "Due to the current situation, there are significant impacts on our ability to maintain all our usual service levels. We will continue offering our services, receiving and delivering parcels for our customers but there may be disruptions to some services under current conditions.
DON'T MISS
"As a result, we will be suspending service guarantees from 18 March 2020 but will seek to ensure ‘all reasonable endeavours’ to maintain service levels where we can.
"The actions we are taking, are twofold: Same day ad hoc collections will be suspended, however, you can still book an ad hoc collection for the next working day. We ask that parcels are immediately ready for collection so that we can collect as efficiently as possible.
"Timed services will be reviewed and where possible maintained but we will continue to keep you informed of restrictions. We expect that changes may be staged as the situation evolves, keeping our next working day morning services in place for now."
The retailer's website is also temporarily closed but Screwfix says it'll be live again later today so customers can place new orders.
Once it's back online, customers can use the store finder to track down their nearest Screwfix.
Most shops in the UK open at 8am but times do vary depending on location.
Screwfix has also warned: "Any orders currently out for delivery will be subject to courier restrictions and your order could be significantly delayed."
WICKES
Wickes's doors remained closed today while the retailer works out "the best operation to support customers in these unprecedented times".
But shops are expected to reopen tomorrow under normal trading hours, and in the meantime customers can also still order online.
If a customer is expecting a delivery today were looking to click and collect from stores, Wickes says it'll be in touch to rearrange your order.
Wickes said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and do hope you understand this disruption as we seek to fulfil essential services for all, whilst keeping wellbeing front of mind."
Wickes stores typically open between 6am and 9am, depending on location.
Customers can use the online store finder to see when their local shop is expected to open tomorrow.
Express has contacted representatives at Wicks for further comment on whether, with the current restrictions in place, customers will be still able to browse in-store, or if they'll implement a click and collect service only.
B&Q
B&Q has also decided to keep its doors closed today so stores can decide how best to trade going forward.
However, they're expected to reopen tomorrow under normal trading hours, in the meantime, customers can still make orders on the B&Q website.
Customers with click and collect orders due today are being told their products should be available in-store tomorrow.
B&Q has also confirmed click and collect orders will now be ready to pick up in four hours due to extra demand - but customers should still only go to pick up their order once they've received an email confirming it's ready.
B&Q said: "We are now working out the safest and simplest way to support communities in providing only essential products moving forwards."
B&Q stores usually open from 7am - customers can use the online finder tool to locate their nearest shop.
Express.co.uk has also asked B&Q if customers will be able to browse and shop, or if they'll only be able to click and collect, but is still awaiting comment.
Homebase
Homebase stores are open today but only for "essential repair and maintenance projects".
The retailer hasn't said if customers will be able to buy products as normal, or if its operating a click and collect order service only, but Express.co.uk has contacted the relevant representatives to confirm.
The Homebase website was shut earlier today, but as of right now is back and fully operational.
It should mean that customers are now able to place new orders since it's up and running.
Homebase stores usually open from 9am across the UK.
Customers can use the online finder to see where their nearest branch is once the website is live again.
