McVities have introduced Digestive Thins at 31 calories per biscuit
TEA drinkers were handed a new ‘healthier’ option for dunking today - with the launch of a lower calorie wafer thin chocolate digestive.
Food giant McVitie’s began selling the new Digestive Thins with the promise that fans of the traditional version of the biscuit would not be disappointed.
The Nation's favourite biscuit will be healthier, thinner and crispier
And at just 31 calories per biscuit - less than half the 86 calories in the usual chocolate digestive - they should also be kinder to consumers’ waistline.
Heralded as a “delightfully delicate twist on the nation’s favourite biscuit’, the new snacks are thinner and crispier than the standard version.
Coming in three flavours - milk chocolate, dark chocolate and chocolate cappuccino - McVities say the new range will provide the perfect excuse to take five minutes out from work.
Each biscuit will weigh 63 per cent less than regular Chocolate Digestives
Even though they have only just hit shelves, they are already proving to be very popular amongst British biscuit lovers.
Kerry Owens, McVitie’s Marketing Director, said “McVitie’s Digestive Thins are a thinner, crispier take on the classic McVitie’s Chocolate Digestives we know and love - a bit more delicate and refined, offering an even more chocolatey bite than a Chocolate Digestive.
“Even though they have only just hit shelves, they are already proving to be very popular amongst British biscuit lovers, and we’re very excited about the launch.”
The launch has also been prompted by declining sales in Digestives as consumers search for healthier options.
