Give Pancake Day a boost with these Nutella and banana pancakes
Today Britain will be going flipping mad as families around the country indulge in sweet and savoury pancake feasts ahead of 40 days of Lent.
But instead of opting for your standard crepe why not toss aside the sugar and lemon and indulge in a firm family favourite - Nutella.
The rich chocolate and hazelnut spread is the perfect pancake day accompaniment and can be teamed with any fruit, from strawberries to kiwis or mango. Here's how to make our favourite Nutella and banana crepe:
PANCAKES WITH NUTELLA AND BANANA
Serves: 2
For the pancakes:
110g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 medium eggs
150ml semi-skimmed milk
1 tsp vegetable oil
For the filling:
2 bananas chopped
15g Nutella
Method:
Place the flour, baking powder, eggs and milk into a large bowl and whisk together to make smooth batter. In a non-stick small frying pan heat the vegetable oil. Using a ladle, pour in a ladleful of batter, lifting and swirling the pan so that the batter covers the base in a thing layer.
Cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown underneath and just set and flip over until underside is also golden-brown.
Remove the pancake from the pan and set aside to keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
Spread the pancakes with Nutella and arrange the sliced banana on top.
TIPS: Use other fruit like sliced strawberries, kiwi or add raisins to the batter mix. Use ready made pancakes if you prefer
