Michelin-trained chef Poppy O’Toole has shared a slow cooker recipe that fans are calling a ‘game changer’– as it can be left to bubble all day without having to pay it much bother.

With the autumn equinox just around the corner (Sunday, 22nd September to be precise) it’s the perfect time to start thinking about cosy meals, changing the duvet to something thicker, and busting out a sweater or two.

Gone are the summer salads and BBQ meats, and in their place are hearty stews, nutritious soups, and tasty casseroles. And the best way to make any of these options is to use the slow cooker.

With Poppy’s new book, The Actually Delicious Slow Cooker Cookbook, out next week (Thursday 12th September) the viral 'Potato Queen' shared one of her favourite recipes on TikTok.

Taking to social media, she titled the post: “Slow cooker ‘Marry Me’ Chicken.” She went on: This beauty is a ‘marry me’ chicken, or as I like to say, actually I can’t say on here (f*** me chicken).”

Explaining the method, Poppy enthused that she had designed all the recipes so all the ingredients could be thrown together, given a stir, and allowed to cook. After six to seven hours on low, meaning you can leave it all day to bubble, it'll be ready to serve with pasta, potatoes or veg.

After it’s done, simply take off the lid and pull the chicken breasts apart to shreds, then serve.

Poppy also shared the ingredients with her 4.4 million followers ahead of the release of her new book.
