Sick of limp lettuce ruining your efforts to eat healthy this week?

After an indulgent summer, many Brits are ditching the late-night takeaways and fried food for light salads, smoothies, and anything that tastes vaguely like Earth in the hope of shedding a few pounds.

Lettuce is a diet staple: filled with potassium, vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium and even iron - yet somehow containing no fat, no cholesterol and only 15 calories per 100g.

However, those leafy greens are notorious for quickly spoiling - going from crisp and crunchy to soggy and tasteless overnight.

Luckily, a savvy shopper has found a genius solution - claiming her storage hack can keep your lettuce fresh for up to a fortnight, all while saving space in the fridge.

TikTok user Chores With Mom shows how she stuffs a folded paper towel into a ziplock bag, creased side down, to create a 'sort of bag liner'.

"Wash and prep your lettuce and load it into your ziplock bag," she said. "Really pack it in. You can fit a few heads of lettuce in there without a problem.

"Fold the paper towel over the top if you can, so the lettuce on top is covered too. [Then] squeeze all the air out. Really get in there! Store it like this and you'll have salad for up to two weeks."

Hundreds of impressed viewers flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts - with many vowing to try the hack out for themselves.

"We do this," one user raved. "The paper towel catches the moisture." Another agreed, commenting: "Thanks for the tip! Also, don't cut it until you're ready to use it. I find it doesn't brown as fast if I use it as I need it."

A third added: "Oh, I will so start doing that. I eat salad every day. Thanks so much," while a fourth branded the hack 'awesomely wonderful'.
