CASHBACK! Fiat and Vauxhall launch new scrappage schemes
DISCOUNTS of up to £2,500 available from carmakers against cost of new models.
Vauxhall and Fiat are offering cashback when trading in an old model for a new one
Vauxhall and Fiat are both launching new scrappage or swappage schemes that offer buyers of new cars a discount of £2,000.
The schemes are an echo of the official government scheme from 2009-10 that saw £300m supporting the replacement of 300,000 cars.
Vauxhall is offering the £2,000 discount (including VAT) towards a new model when buyers trade in their car.
Vauxhall customers could receive up to £2,000 of their purchase
The cash can also be used alongside finance offers such as Flexible Personal Contract Purchase Plans (PCP), which involve monthly payments over a fixed term.
We are pleased to welcome back our Scrappage Allowance Scheme
Vauxhall’s scheme runs from 15 November and is eligible for cars ordered and registered before 31 December. Cars being traded in must be registered to the customer at least 90 days before the order date of the new vehicle – which includes the new Astra, Mokka, Mokka X, GTC, new Zafira Tourer, Insignia or Cascada.
The Viva, Adam Jam, Corsa Sting, Corsa Sting R and Corsa Diamond are not eligible for the Scrappage Allowance.
Leon Caruso, Vauxhall’s retail sales director, said: “We are pleased to welcome back our Scrappage Allowance Scheme, helping customers to fund their new car with up to £2,000 for their old model.

Fiat is offering a similar deal with additional extras on top of the swappage
Not only can customers potentially receive more for their outgoing model, but they can also use this in conjunction with some of Vauxhall’s great finance offers, making their new Vauxhall even more affordable.”
Fiat Chrysler UK is also introducing a similar scheme, which it has named The Big Swappage Deal.
The initiative offers buyers an additional incentive to trade in their current vehicle, with a range of extra ‘swappage’ bonus offers on top of any value the participating Fiat dealer has put on the customer’s car.
The deal covers the entire range of Fiat models – except the new 124 Spider –including the 500, the 500L and 500X, as well as Tipo, Panda, Punto, Qubo and Doblo.
These initiatives are similar to ones initiated by the Government between 2009-2010
The Swappage Bonus varies depending on Fiat model selected, ranging between £500 and £2,500.
“The Fiat Swappage Scheme will appeal to customers with cars of any age, make or model,” says Paul Runza, brand manager Fiat UK.
“However the offer is still available for customers who do not have a part exchange vehicle – they will be eligible for a Swappage cash discount of up to £2,500.”
