GENEVA is renowned for showcasing some highly futuristic concept cars that might, on the surface, look like flights of fancy, but often display a vision that could well become reality in a decade's time.
Rinspeed Budii, an electric car full of smart gadgets and technology
1. Rinspeed Budii
A self-driving version of BMW's i3 electric car, the Budii is filled with all kinds of clever technology, including a telescopic laser scanner, called TrackView, mounted to roof that delivers a 3-D perspective and prepares the car for what's ahead.

2. Aston Martin DBX concept
Perhaps the most controversial car of the show, the DBX concept sharply divided opinion among showgoers. Intended to highlight a possible design direction for a future Aston GT (grand tourer), it also demonstrated how the company is thinking beyond pure sports cars and expanding into segments that are seen more practical and family-friendly.
3. Seat 20V20
No brand is complete these days if it doesn't have a crossover in its model line-up, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see Seat showing a stunning concept that suggests what future SUV crossovers will look like. It even has an electric scooter in the boot to take drivers from where they park to their final destination. Not quite a Back to the Future hoverboard, but close.

4. Lexus LF-SA
Premium brands are no longer averse to smaller cars, as environmentally-conscious urban consumers look to downsize without having to give up on quality. So Lexus showed a 2+2 ultra-compact city car vehicle designed to be manoeuvrable on congested streets. A vision of the future? Quite possibly.
5. EDAG Light Cocoon
You can't get much more futuristic than this 3-D-printed car from German engineering specialists EDAG, which comprises a frame covered with a thin skin of material, called Texapore Softshell, made by outdoor clothing company Jack Wolfskin.
