Nissan Micra cars in steering fault recall
A POTENTIALLY dangerous steering wheel fault led to more than 133,000 Japanese cars in the UK being recalled yesterday.
A bolt which keeps the wheel in place was found to have come loose in some Nissan Micra models.
Over time it could “wobble” and come off altogether if ignored, a spokesman said.
The 133,869 affected cars were made between December 2002 and May 2006. Altogether, 841,000 Nissan Micras are being recalled worldwide.
A Nissan spokesman said the firm is writing to owners of the vehicles who should take them to a dealer.
He said: “In some cases the steering wheel securing nut has gradually become loose.
“There is no risk of a sudden failure but if left unchecked this could lead to the steering column being damaged.”
