Owners of a popular second hand petrol and diesel car have only just realised they can change the feel of their car by pulling a little-known hidden handle.

A vital TikTok clip has shown motorist @mxllyelizabeth03 dramatically expanding their cabin space in seconds.

Searching in the boot, the clips show the driver grabbing a control located on the seat and pulling it backwards.

The rear passenger space is instantly extended with passengers set to benefit from extra legroom.

It took the vehicle owner a staggering four months to learn about the hidden tip with other Nissan Micra drivers also baffled by the discovery.

Speaking on TikTok, she said: "Just discovered my Micra has sliding rear seats. Owned this car for nearly four months. My passengers can now have legroom."

@mxllyelizabeth03 added: "Did anyone else know this?! For reference, this is a K12, 2004. How I only just discovered this I don't know, but it's so handy.”

Reacting to the clip, @strangetown.native said: "This is something I'd discover right before I changed the car tbh."

@molls20141 wrote: "OMG wish I knew this when I had my Micra (highkey want another so will keep this in mind)."

She later added: "You guys also know about the secret compartment under the passenger seat right?"

Other motorists even quickly pointed out other simple hacks they had discovered in their Micra as motorists quickly praised the plucky machine.

@myspannermonkey reacted: "There should be a metal handle at the front under the middle seat too for the passengers to move it."

@mcvsha wrote: "I miss my Micra so much for this reason. The many cup holders and the passenger seat storage."

One road user commented: "My Micra has been an endless gold mine of features, has parallel park assist but also has crank windows in the back."

Millions of drivers across the UK have a Nissan Micra, with hundreds of thousands of vehicles registered every year.

Before 2010, over half a million were registered every year but numbers fell to just over 300,000 by 2018.

AutoTrader, the leading new and used car marketplace, has Micra models listed for just under £2,000 making them very affordable for those on low budgets.
