Most popular video game cars ranked - includes long-running Japanese sporty model

Video games give users the chance to get behind the wheel of all types of speedy and classic cars, with many featuring incredible models from the real world.

The vehicle financing company Carlease.co.uk has shared a study to find the models that are most commonly found in video games.

Whilst motorists in the real world choose their vehicle based on practicality and running costs, video games lets them experience the thrill of high-performance and luxury cars.

According to Carlease.co.uk, the most popular vehicle to feature in video games is the Nissan Skyline, with the Japanese sportscar included in no fewer than 1,416 titles.

A staple in the Nissan range since 1957, the Skyline has offered style and staggering performance figures over a considerable 13 generations, making it a popular choice with car fanatics all over the world.

Given Japan's connection to the video game world, Skylines can be found in many of the most popular racing series, including Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport.

Another model that Carlease.co.uk highlighted as popular with gamers is the Ford Crown Victoria, which can be seen in nearly 950 video games.

Hardly an attractive or sporty model, this all-American saloon is used widely as a police car, making it the perfect vehicle of choice to show the long arm of the law in games.

Whilst that makes the Crown Victoria a popular model to include in police simulation games, it can also be found chasing characters in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Finally, the company noted that another much-loved American model that has found its way into an impressive 763 video games is the Chevrolet Camaro.

Built over six generations from 1966 to 2023, the Chevrolet Camaro was General Motor's response to the Ford Mustang, offering a high-performance coupe for a reasonable price.

As a result, the Camaro has been a mainstay in racing games since the 1980s, including Test Drive, Need for Speed and Forza Horizon.
