UNIVERSAL CREDIT and Pension Credit claimants, as well as some other benefits recipients, have been due a Cold Weather Payment this winter. Which postcodes have been affected so far this year?
Cold Weather Payments: Guide to government-run scheme
A drop in temperature will have been felt by many recently, as winter gets well and truly underway. In a number of corners of the UK, residents have already seen very cold weather, with some people in certain postcodes being able to receive the Cold Weather Payment.
This winter, the scheme runs from November 1 2019 to March 31 2020.
The payment may be available if a person is getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest.
A payment can be made if the average temperature in the eligible person’s area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below for seven consecutive days.
The Cold Weather Payment is £25 for each seven day period of very cold weather during the time in which the scheme runs.
