Beyonce lost at the Grammys to Adele in Album of the Year
The superstar’s latest album Lemonade - which finished 2016 atop many critics’ best-of-year lists, was beaten by Adele’s 25 to several top prizes, including the coveted Album of the Year.
Even Adele herself appeared to acknowledge that Beyonce was overlooked, and now Solange has taken to Twitter to take a swipe at the Grammy Awards.
“There have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for album of the year,” she wrote. “There have been over 200 black artist who have performed.”
In a follow-up post, she added: “Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g’s.”

In her acceptance speech, Adele had said: “I can’t possibly accept this award and I’m very humble and gracious but the artist of my life is Beyoncé and the Lemonade album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-baring.”
Overwhelmed, a tearful Beyonce was seen mouthing back to the British megastar: “I love you, thank you.”
Backstage, Adele clarified her remarks: “Like I said in my speech, my album of the year is Lemonade. So a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé stan — not going to lie.
“I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win.
