It’s been considered a massive plot hole of the Marvel epic.
Having gathered all the Infinity Stones, why didn’t Thanos just double the universe’s resources instead of killing half of all life with the Snap?
The Mad Titan had all that power and he chose genocide, but why?
Well today Avengers Infinity War is released digitally in the US and in the new commentary the answer to this question is revealed.
According to MCU Cosmic, directors the Russo brothers and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely gave the real answer.
Apparently Thanos didn’t just double resource because his people on Titan had said no to his idea to kill half the universe.
So going ahead with his original plan was the Mad Titan’s way of proving himself right.
The commentary has already revealed why Thanos didn’t just collect the stones earlier in previous MCU movies.
The directors and writers revealed Thanos was held back, just as Marvel fans were, with not knowing the location of the Soul Stone.
The logic is, if the Mad Titan sought the Infinity Stones without knowing where all of them were, everyone would unite against him.
So presumably Thanos knew he just had to get the information out of Nebula or Gamora that the Soul Stone was on Vormir.
Benicio Del Toro hints he will return for Avengers fourth sequel
Meanwhile the Snap hasn’t just damaged the Gauntlet as shown on screen, but apparently has “permanently” damaged Thanos.
Whatever that means for Avengers 4 is beyond us.
Avengers 4 will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
