Avengers 4: Ant-Man PREQUEL with digitally de-aged Michael Douglas? Marvel boss SPEAKS OUT
AVENGERS 4 producer Kevin Feige has spoken out on the possibility of an Ant-Man and the Wasp prequel with a digitally de-aged Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.
Paul Rudd stars in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp
Back in 2015 Ant-Man’s opening scene revealed a digitally de-aged Douglas as Hank Pym in the 1980s.
Marvel fans will know Pym as the original Ant-Man from the comics, while in the MCU he’s older and has passed on the superhero identity to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang.
And having appeared in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Douglas has revealed he now wants to star in a prequel as a younger Pym.
Speaking with Comic Book, the 73-year-old said: “Now that I see that you can have the ability to make yourself 40 years younger rather than simply having a flashback in the movie.”
Douglas added: “If you can make yourself small and you can make yourself big, I should certainly hope that you can make yourself younger.
“I wanna give Paul [Rudd] a run for his money! I think it’s time for us to go at it mano-a-mano.”
With recent technological advancements it’s certainly possible. In fact Samuel L Jackson will be digitally de-aged by 25 years for the whole of Captain Marvel next year.
And now Kevin Feige has answered what he thinks about an Ant-Man prequel with Douglas.
Speaking with Screen Rant, the Marvel boss said: “The fun thing about making these movies and having this interconnected universe is that almost anything is an inkling of a possibility.
“Whether that's a franchise on its own, a single film on its own, a one-shot as you mentioned, a scene in another movie, it's all possible. It’s all possible.”
With Captain Marvel set in the 1990s and Captain America: The First Avengers in the 1940s, another period set MCU movie would certainly be fun.
Paul Rudd talks Ant-Man
Of course the possibility is an Ant-Man spin-off with Scott’s daughter Cassie, who in the comics becomes Stature aka Ant-Girl when she grows up.
Could Young Avengers be on the cards for Marvel Phase 4?
Ant-Man and the Wasp is released in UK cinemas on August 3, 2019.
