Avengers 4: Jane Foster for return after Infinity War? First hint was dropped LAST YEAR
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR directors the Russo brothers have recently dropped a little hint that Jane Foster could be back in next year’s follow-up - but it’s not the first time.
Avengers: Infinity War cast read mean tweets about themselves
Joe and Anthony Russo were asked which MCU characters who did not appear in Infinity War survived The Snap at the hands of Thanos.
When Jane’s name came up, Anthony Russo refused to answer, saying only “spoiler”.
"When we say spoiler we mean potential spoiler,” he clarified.
Whether this means Jane will be mentioned in Avengers 4, or if Natalie Portman is actually returning, remains to be seen.
Natalie Portman played Jane Foster in the MCU
Jane was last seen in Thor: The Dark World
Either way, the Russos aren’t the first to drop a hint - as Taika Waititi did the same last year.
The filmmaker, who directed 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, tweeted a split-pic of Portman aged 13 in Leon: The Professional, and age 19 in Where The Heart Is.
In both screengrabs, she was walking down a street holding bags in one hand and a plant in the other.
He captioned his post: “Heed the signs. #Ragnarok.”
At the time, it was assumed that he was being cryptic around a potential Jane appearance in his own film, but this turned out to be false.
She was last seen in the MCU with Thor: The Dark World, but was allegedly upset that Patty Jenkins had dropped out of directing it - and only went ahead with her performance because she was contractually obligated.
Last year, she said: “As far as I know, I’m done [with Marvel].”

Portman has previously sounded against a Marvel return
Asked in 2016 if she would ever return, she said she was fed up with the blue/green screens used in big-budget films, adding: “Yeah, well, hopefully one day I figure it out.”
Avengers: Infinity War is still doing big business at the box office, although could well be toppled by Deadpool 2 this weekend.
Avengers 4 is out in April 2019 in the UK.
