The 49-year-old Aussie star bowed out as Wolverine in Logan last year, after nine movies in the X-Men role.
However he has previously said he would consider returning if the character could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now his X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Scott Adkins, who shared the role of Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds, has backed him to return to the role.
Adkins, who also played Lucian in Doctor Strange, told Comic Book: “I actually hope Hugh Jackman comes back to play Wolverine, if they’re going to do that.”

Hugh Jackman has said he won't return, but Sebastian Stan teases he's thinking about it
The British actor continued: “[But] if he’s had enough, then that’s up to him of course.
“Maybe, if you’re going to [bring Wolverine back], you need somebody who’s getting ready to do a bunch of more movies and not just a one-off.”
Although Jackman has said he feels like another actor should take on the role of Wolverine in the MCU, Avengers Infinity War’s Bucky star Sebastian Stan claims the Aussie is thinking about returning.
Not only that, but some Marvel fans believe there are clues in the Super Bowl TV spot for the upcoming movie.
