The 1982 original was a cult hit that often enters Top 10 lists for the greatest movies ever made.
Then last year a huge gamble paid off with the release of Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve, who won over the critics with a shower of five star reviews.
Now the first film’s director Scott has revealed he has plans for a third movie.
Speaking with Digital Spy, the director said: “I hope so. I think there is another story.”

He continued: “I’ve got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure.”
The news comes after Scott slammed Blade Runner 2049, which was surprise flop, despite its amazing reviews.
Scott summed up his problem in one simple line to Al Arabiya: “It’s slow. It’s slow. Long. Too long. I would have taken out half an hour.”

Villeneuve said: “Listen, I would love to do a Bond movie. I think Daniel Craig is a fantastic actor and I would like to, but several months ago I came into do Dune and I engaged myself.
“I committed myself and I’m someone that doesn’t step back. I did Blade Runner, one of my conditions was that I would have time to do Arrival first. Once I commit, I commit."
