First look at how the Crystal Fox is brought to life on Star Wars
More and more mini-trailer and features keep being released by Lucasfilm as the release of Star Wars The Last Jedi approaches.
The latest is a behind-the-scenes clip on how the crystal foxes known as Vulptices, or a Vulptex, are brought to life.
The video opens with the familiar face of Finn star John Boyega, who says: “We’ve got animatronics, physical effects, puppetry. Yeah looks fantastic.”
Incredibly it’s revealed that 25,000 crystals were used on this animatronic beast.

One of the team in the video adds: “We’ll do a combination of the hand puppet, there’ll be animatronics in the face.
“And then we’ll make a perfect version for CGI, then scan it to bring her to life in anyway that Rian [Johnson, director] wants.”
The Vulptices will be seen on the planet Crait in The Last Jedi.
Meanwhile yesterday saw a new trailer released with what looked like Snoke tempting Rey.
