Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 director: 'Sylvester Stallone plays MAJOR Marvel character'
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol 2 director James Gunn has revealed that Sylvester Stallone plays a major Marvel character in the upcoming sci-fi sequel.
Trailer: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Marvel fans have known for a while that the Rocky star would be turning up for the second Guardians movie, but who is he playing?
At first it was presumed he would just do a cameo role as one of Yondu’s Ravagers or a member of Nova Corp.
However a new hint from director Gunn suggests he’ll be playing a much bigger role.
Speaking with The Adam Carolla Show, he said: “We do have a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe who are going to make their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which people don't know about.

Gunn added: “Sylvester Stallone plays one of these characters...my friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent role in the movie as well and it sort of works in tandem with Sly's character.
With this new information, could the idea of a cameo just be a red herring to keep attention away from his key role?
Some fans have been wondering when Guardians favourite Adam Warlock will be turning up – perhaps Stallone is him?
The comic book character plays a major role in the story that Avengers: Infinity War is based on, while the Guardians will appear in the film version next year.
Could Stallone be playing Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2?
It is odd how Warlock hasn’t been introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so fans can only hope.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released in UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 while Avengers Infinity War will be released on April 27, 2018.
