MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 6 just gained a new star in the form of a well-known superhero.
Who's joining Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 6?
Henry Cavill, the current actor behind Superman, has signed up to join Tom Cruise in the sixth instalment in the franchise.
Director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed the news via Instagram, appearing to innocently ask the actor if he wanted to come aboard.
“Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure,” he wrote.
Cavill replied: “Only if I get to fly for real… I’m in!”

The 33-year-old’s role in the new movie is currently unknown, but he could do with a hit: his last few movies have had relatively lukewarm receptions from critics.
Even DC's Man Of Steel managed only a 55% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with The Man From U.N.C.L.E. faring slightly better with 68% and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on 27%.
Last year it was reported that MI6 is heading for a release next summer, with July 27, 2018 already in the diary.
Cruise cemented his own return to the cast back in September.

So far the Mission: Impossible franchise has raked in over $2.7 billion between its five films, the last of which came out in 2015.
McQuarrie also helmed the fifth chapter, Rogue Nation, which came out in 2015 and was a hit with critics and at the box office.
Cavill, meanwhile, will soon be seen back in his Superman cape in Justice League.
