Is this the LEAKED title for Star Wars: Episode VIII?
STAR WARS: Episode VIII’s title may have just been leaked in a video at a fan celebration event.
Star Wars fans go crazy over this possible 'Leaked' new title video
The short 37 second video shows the title, Star Wars: Fall of the Resistance, on a poster broadcast from a digital screen.
The footage is likely genuine, as it comes with an official Star Wars logo, made complete by its usual outer-space background.
Just below it is the motif for the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016.
Other ‘leaks’ like The Jedi Steps and Shadow of the Sith have been shared before, but this one looks too legitimate to be fake.
Has the title for Star Wars Episode VIII been revealed?
Assuming this is the title, it’s also an obvious plot spoiler for the new movie, suggesting that Kylo Ren will get the upper-hand.
This would make sense from a narrative point of view for the trilogy, as it would mean that Episode IX will be the big fight back from the goodies.
Fans have taken to Twitter to express their mixed reactions of joy and disgust.
One fan said: “I will be very disappointed if the title of Star Wars: Episode VIII is Fall of the Resistance. Try harder.”
Another gave their opinion by answering with a classic Star Wars catchphrase: “Fall of the Resistance. I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Similarly a more positive fan responded with a GIF from a hilarious Zootropolis scene where a sloth very slowly starts to smile in amazement.
I will be very disappointed if the title of Star Wars Episode VIII is "Fall of The Resistance".
