Austerity turns colleagues into rivals in Two Days, One Night, an involving melodrama with a gutsy central performance from Marion Cotillard as Sandra, a woman battling depression and fighting to keep her job at a solar panel factory.
Sandra will be made redundant unless she can persuade a majority of her 16 colleagues to forgo their much-needed bonuses and thus secure her job.
She has a weekend to win hearts and change minds before a crucial vote. More sentimental and contrived than previous films from Belgian brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, this is still a topical and touching tale.
