The Purge: Anarchy is more 'B-movie bloodbath' than clever social commentary
THIS dystopian horror sequel is tensely made but definitely not for the squeamish

In the America of 2023 crime levels will be controlled by an annual 12-hour period in which any violation of the law goes unpunished.
It is a really nonsensical premise but it seems to work for bloodthirsty cinemagoers and has now spawned a sequel The Purge: Anarchy in which another motley bunch of mostly innocent citizens try to avoid becoming the latest victims of a lawless city.
Gleeful depictions of violent deaths rub shoulders with sledgehammer social commentary about this being an extreme expression of class warfare in a B-movie bloodbath that is tensely made but pretty vile.
