Star Wars 9 filming update: ‘CRAZY’ scene features HUGE ‘moment of shock’ - see photo
STAR WARS 9 will feature a spectacular set-piece, if one of its biggest star’s latest Instagram posts is anything to go by.
John Boyega relaxes in Jordan during Star Wars filming
John Boyega, who plays Finn, shared a snap to his feed showing his hands with what looks like a splash of fake blood on them. The snap’s caption promised a spectacular sequence in the new movie - and although he didn’t specifically name Star Wars 9, he did use the telling hashtag #FN2187 - the original Stormtrooper name of his character.
He wrote: “Great working day on set!! The whole team pushed themselves today to achieve something visually crazy!
“I’ve had many moments of shock on set but not like today and I can’t wait until you know why.”
Yesterday it was reported that the film is making use of “f**king colossal” sets; much more ambitious than predecessors The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
A host of the Star Wars podcast Now, This Is Podcasting claimed to have a friend working on the set of the upcoming trilogy finale, which is being directed by JJ Abrams.
“It’s down to skeleton crews,” he said. “I’ve got friends on those skeleton crews. “But it’s real small, so Episode 9 is winding down.”
He added: “But what’s going to end up happening with 9 is there’s a lot of reshoots.
“So many big, epic battles; the sets are so f**king colossal compared to what they did in the past.
“Some of the key parts weren’t completely fleshed out; writing was still happening as they [went] - but they budgeted for it, it’s not an issue.”
The hosts expressed fears that the reshoots could become an “alarmist thing”, but stressed that the more improvisation-friendly approach Abrams has taken has always factored in plenty of reshoots to finesse what has already been cptured.
“It was planned,” the host confirmed. “But it sounds like 9 should be done pretty soon, at least principle photography.”
The title of the film is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Star Wars: Episode 9 is out in December 2019.
