James Bond favourite Idris Elba shares CRYPTIC selfie with Daniel Craig at Golden Globes
JAMES BOND star Daniel Craig shared a cryptic selfie with next 007 favourite Idris Elba at the 2019 Golden Globes.
Golden Globes 2019: Idris Elba joined by daughter on red carpet
With the return of Luther on New Year’s Day, Elba’s odds of being the next actor to play James Bond were slashed right down to 4-1. Well, now speculation is even rifer as the 46-year-old actor shared a selfie with Craig at last night’s Golden Globes. Taken at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the picture showed Elba with his hand on the 50-year-old’s shoulder, as the two looked suspiciously at each other. Craig, who attended to support his wife Rachel Weisz in her acting nomination for The Favourite, was sporting his 007 black tie and holding the top of a bottle of champagne.
Posted on Elba’s Twitter, over the picture he wrote: “Awks…..” While the tweet simply said: “Er….”
What exactly could this cryptic tweet mean? Is Elba hopeful to replace Craig in a few years time as Bond?
It’s certainly a long way away, but what’s more likely is Elba having a joke around.
Previously the star has shared a picture of himself doing a mock-up of Bond’s catchphrase: “The name’s Bond. James Bond.”

Except Elba tweeted last summer: “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba.”
However, a few days later he tweeted: “Don’t believe the HYPE.”
The source of the rumours was director Antoine Fuqua, who told the Daily Star that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli now thinks “it is time” for a non-white 007.
Antoine said: “Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with a physically strong presence. Idris has that."
Meanwhile, Craig beings shooting his fifth and final James Bond film, which has a working title of Bond 25, on March 4 at Pinewood Studios, London.
True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga has taken over as director after Danny Boyle quit.
No doubt a title and cast announcement will arrive before filming begins.
Bond 25 will be released on February 14, 2019.
