James Bond: REAL-LIFE British spies reveal who they want as next 007 after Daniel Craig
REAL MI6, MI5 and GCHQ spies have revealed who they want as the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.
GMB: Idris Elba claims he is NOT the next James Bond
Last week six real-life British spies from MI6, MI5 and GCHQ gave an interview to the BBC.
Speaking on Radio 5 Live with Nihal Arthanayake, five women and one man opened up about their lives as spooks under false names.
While there are some similarities, it’s clear the real world of espionage isn’t quite so Hollywood as James Bond.
Nevertheless, Nihal couldn’t let them go without asking them who they think should be the next 007 after Daniel Craig.
The presenter pointed out how Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has confirmed that the character will never be played by a woman.
One female intelligence officer said: “They’re not being very diverse are they?”
While “Kate” acknowledged: “I think it’s fine. James Bond is a male character.
“I would like to see him acknowledge and treat his female colleagues better, however. That would be good.”
While a couple of others said, “Never say never”, and, “I’d like to see a woman.”
But when it came to a specific actor one spy said Tom Hardy, while three of the six backed Idris Elba.
The intelligence officer called “John”, said: “I’d love to see Idris Elba do it. I think he’d be awesome.”
As for what skills Bond would need, one GCHQ officer said: “He could definitely do with coming on one of my training courses.”
She added: “I think he needs some help with some technical stuff as well. “He’s out in the field too much. He’s extremely analogue.”
Bond 25 will be released in cinemas on February 14, 2019.
