Avengers Infinity War: Proof Thanos tried and FAILED to gather the Infinity Stones before?
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR was not the first time Thanos tried and failed to gather the Infinity Stones, claims a new theory.

The Marvel epic was one big heist, as Thanos swept through the universe and towards Earth to gather all six Infinity Stones.
But what if this actually wasn’t the first time the Mad Titan had attempted such a feat?
After all Odin, King of Asgard once held the Tesseract in his vault along with a right-handed Infinity Gauntlet.
And now a popular new fan theory claims Thanos tried before, but Odin managed to stop him.
Reddit user tanyunlong writes: “My theory is that this wasn’t Thanos' first attempt at the stones.
“First is the gauntlet. We see one in Odin's vault, right hand and one on Thanos, left hand.
“It is big and gold. It matches Thanos' armor very well.
“His armour is the only thing it matches that we have seen in all of MCU.”
They continued: “Thanos knew enough about the gauntlet to ask Etri for one.
“The theory assumes the gauntlet in Odin' vault was captured from Thanos.
“I speculate that Thanos tried to obtain the stones once before and Odin stopped him and took the gauntlet and stones from him.
“Points to support this are: Thanos waited until Odin died to go after a new gauntlet and the stones. Thanos had the left gauntlet and Odin the right. Thanos knew to ask Etri for a gauntlet.”
Perhaps he thought it’s not worth trying again until the King of Asgard died.
Is it just a convenience that Avengers Infinity War begins with Thanos conquering the remnants of Asgard at its very weakest?
Perhaps Avengers 4 will go further into Thanos’ backstory.
