Frail Vanessa Redgrave, 80, aided by doting son Carlo at Loveless premiere in Cannes
VANESSA REDGRAVE put her recent health woes to one side at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival tonight.
The film legend cut a very chic figure as she hit the red carpet for the premiere of Loveless at the French resort’s Palais des Festivals.
The 80-year-old was flanked by her son Carlo, who took her hand to help her up the stairs ahead of the star-studded screening.
Keeping her dark-rimmed spectacles firmly on and hair tied back, Vanessa teamed a black blouse with matching trousers.
The actress, who suffered a near-fatal heart attack in April 2015, brightened up her simple get-up with a long white coat and embellished scarf.
Vanessa gave her ensemble a casual feel with Converse trainers while Carlo, 47, looked dapper in a classic tuxedo.
The pair are at the annual event for a special screening of Sea Sorrow, which they directed and produced.
The docudrama, which sees Vanessa make her director debut, is a heartfelt offering about the refugee crisis.

Meanwhile, the soiree was also attended by Robin Wright, Emily Ratajkowski, Petra Nemcova and Susan Sarandon.
The latter, 70, ditched the billowing gowns in favour of a curve-hugging leather skirt, a white shirt and sunglasses.
Russian drama Loveless tells the story of a married couple who want to divorce, before their son disappears following one of their quarrels.
