Steven Hill dead: Law & Order star dies aged 94
LEGENDARY actor Steven Hill has died at the age of 94, reports have confirmed.
The Law & Order star sadly passed away today after enjoying an impressive career in film and on stage.
His daughter Sarah Gobioff broke the news to the New York Times, revealing that he had died in Manhattan.
Steven had a strong reputation in the industry, landing roles in the likes of the Mission: Impossible TV series and the crime drama Law & Order.
At 44 years of age, he landed the lead role of Daniel Briggs in Mission: Impossible, but his time on the CBS show was short-lived as he left after one run and took a decade-long break from acting.
In 1990, Steven joined the cast of Law & Order as district attorney Adam Schiff, the character he was best known for.
He received two Emmy nominations for his portrayal of the government figure, and he worked on the programmed for 10 years.
In a moving statement, the show's creator Dick Wolf called him "one of the most intelligent people" he knew.
"Steven was not only one of the truly great actors of his generation, he was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met," he said.
"He is also the only actor I've known who consistently tried to cut his own lines. He will be missed, but fortunately he can be seen ubiquitously on Law & Order reruns."
