End of the road: Miranda Hart calls time on BBC sitcom
ACTRESS and comedienne Miranda Hart has announced there will be no more episodes of her hit BBC sitcom after Christmas.
The 41-year-old TV star, who has been hugely successful with the show, said she would miss the programme but it was 'the right time to end it.'
The eponymous programme, which started on BBC2 before moving to a prime-time slot on BBC1, won huge audiences for its slapstick humour and plots revolving around her character's disastrous love life.
The comedy also stars Sarah Hadland as Miranda's friend Stevie with Sally Phillips as her ditzy schoolfriend Tilly and Patricia Hodge as her domineering and interfering mother.
Appearing on Steve Wright's Radio 2 show earlier on today, she said she wanted to "end it on a high" and did not want the character to go on forever.
"People have loved the character, which is so nice and amazing for me," she told the afternoon DJ.
Adding: "As she gets older, I don't want her to keep falling over and making a fool of herself."
Fans of the hit show might see a fairytale ending in the final two episodes, which is being filmed next month, as Miranda's character might end up with the mans of her dreams – chef Gary Preston played by Tom Ellis.
