Doris Day makes surprise 90th birthday public appearance
MOVIE star Doris Day appeared on the balcony of her California home on her 90th birthday.
To the delight of a small group of tourists, she smiled and waved, looking healthy as she chatted on the phone.
The appearance in Carmel, near Monterey, on Thursday was the first time she had been seen in public since 2008.
It follows an interview with Closer Weekly magazine.

“I’ve had an amazing life,” she said. “All I ever wanted in my life was to get married, have kids, keep house and cook, and even though I did all these things, I still ended up in Hollywood.
“Would you believe I’m still offered scripts and projects all the time?
“Every once in a while I think about working again but they don’t make the kind of movies I made any more.”
She retired in 1973 after starring in 39 films.
