'Nicole really doesn't deserve all that from Liam' says former fiance Robbie Williams
POP STAR Robbie Williams has opened up about the breakdown of Nicole Appleton and Liam Gallagher's marriage, saying that his former fiancée doesn't deserve what's happened to her.
The 39-year-old singer, who is happily married to Ayda Field, was once engaged to Nicole during her time in girl band All Saints.
And despite the pair calling time on their romance way back in 1999, Robbie still thinks a lot of Nicole and feels sorry for her regarding her impending divorce from Liam.
"I have a very big soft spot for Nic because she's a very decent person," he told The Sun during a recent interview.
"I feel sorry for her as she deserves to be in a good place, in a happy marriage, and I thought she was with Liam. But it would appear that they weren't."
Nicole and Liam's marriage broke down earlier this year when it was alleged that the former Oasis frontman had fathered a love child with US journalist Liza Ghorbani.
"Nicole really doesn't deserve all that from Liam. I've very, very fond memories of her. She's a sweetie," Robbie added.
"I think you're very lucky to find somebody you can coexist with without straying or going mad or being angry. That's whether you're Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field or Tim and June from down the road.
"Luckily I'm in a relationship where we are heading in the same direction — but Liam and Nicole weren't."
Liam, 41, is now said to be living with his former PA Debbie Gwyther and has begun divorce proceedings, whilst dealing with the legal sitaution regarding his alleged love child.
