'She would have been a fan' Anne Frank's stepsister says she may have been a 'Belieber'
ANNE Frank's stepsister has claimed that the teenager may have been a fan of Justin Bieber, had she been a 14-year-old in present day.
The claim comes after the 19-year-old singer was criticised for suggesting that Anne may have liked his music when he wrote a message in the guestbook at the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam.
"She probably would have been a fan. Why not?" said Eva Schloss, who was a close childhood friend of Anne's.
"He’s a young man and she was a young girl, and she liked film stars and music."
However, not many people agreed with Schloss, as they blasted the Canadian heartthrob for being arrogant,
After spending an hour in the museum with a few of his friends, Bieber wrote: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber."
One person who strongly disagreed with the comment was Gillian Walnes MBE, co-founder of The Anne Frank Trust UK.
"This is a place where Anne spent two years hiding in claustrophobic conditions, where she put down her dreams of making the world a better place," she said.
"Now 70 years later a pop singer is trying to hijack this for his own self-aggrandisement. It says a lot about what his ego is turning into."
