For thirty years, the Beckham surname has represented what appeared to be an unshakeable family dynasty. From coordinated wardrobes to front-row appearances at every catwalk show, David and Victoria have maintained a facade of solidarity alongside their four offspring. However, as the Christmas period draws near, the "gloss" surrounding this billion-pound empire is starting to fade.

With Brooklyn Beckham, 26, and Nicola Peltz-Beckham, 30, establishing their own "next generation" dynasty, the story is evolving from a cohesive family tale into two competing narratives. The most recent controversy has seen Brooklyn block his relatives on social media following his mother, Victoria's, decision to like a post regarding his chicken roasting endeavors.

The budding photographer stopped following his celebrity parents, David and Victoria, on Instagram yesterday (December 21), with his younger sibling, Cruz, confirming this dramatic action. Reports suggested they had unfollowed Brooklyn and spouse Nicola Peltz after she unfollowed them online.

Responding to the speculation, Cruz posted on Instagram: "NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let's get the facts right. They woke up blocked... as did I." This recent row allegedly erupted after Brooklyn shared his poultry preparation techniques.

In the clip, he walked fans through his unique roast chicken recipe, explaining, "So it has been beer-brining for the last 24 hours, and I'm just finishing putting some rosemary butter around," as he displayed the meat.

He added: "And that is my simple way of making a chicken breast, some potatoes and vegetables in my Express," he continued in the promotional video for the clothing label. After fans noticed Victoria had liked the post, they encouraged Brooklyn to mend fences with his parents.

"Victoria liked this post. Yay! ! ! Family is everything," one fan commented. Another suggested: "Go cook with your Dad. Looks yummy." A third advised: "Speak to your parents - only one life and it is very precious." A fourth observed: "U sound and look like your dad. Make contact."

The Sun reported that Brooklyn was irked by his mum's public display of affection and blocked his entire family, including his father David, brothers Romeo and Cruz, and little sister Harper. An insider told the outlet: "It appears that Brooklyn has blocked them to show them that's it, this is final. It is very clear that this is a sign of his complete estrangement from his family."

In response, Brooklyn's camp retaliated - with a 'friend' of the couple alleging they are tired of being 'gaslit'. The Daily Mail reported that Victoria and David have been asked not to reach out to their son, who reportedly finds their social media posts 'anxiety-inducing'.

"It would be really in the holiday spirit if the Beckhams could just back off and leave them alone for now," the friend retorted. "Nicola and Brooklyn haven't been commenting. They just want peace. It would be best for everyone for them [the Beckhams] to stop contacting, commenting, and briefing because it's not accomplishing anything."

The unnamed friend continued: "The Instagram stuff is just a media play – it feels like more manipulation, more gaslighting. It just drives Brooklyn and Nicola further away. They get upset by the speculation. They are trying to take the high road which is not to react at all and to just live their lives."

But what does this latest development in the unfolding drama signify, particularly with Christmas approaching? PR expert Mayah Riaz told the Mirror that this suggests the recent manoeuvre by the Beckham-Peltz pair - who are seeking to establish their own independent brand - is deliberately calculated to seize control of the story and silence their family members.

Highlighting the contradiction in their friend's remarks, given Brooklyn and Nicola's distaste for 'briefings' from the opposing camp, she tells The Mirror: "This absolutely reads like a briefing. The irony here is hard to ignore. When a source uses emotionally loaded language like 'manipulation' and 'gaslighting', that is not accidental or neutral."

The public relations expert stated: "That is narrative shaping. It positions Brooklyn and Nicola not just as hurt, but as victims of something darker and more deliberate. That is a very specific PR choice. The hidden spin is victimhood with credibility.

"By framing themselves as being gaslit, they are attempting to flip the power dynamic. The message is not 'we are silent', it is 'we are justified in our silence'. This type of briefing exists to explain why they are not engaging directly. It gives them moral high ground without them having to speak for themselves."

But what does this mean for David and Victoria? "When it comes to Brand Beckham, this is one of those moments where the polish cracks slightly, but it's not necessarily a bad thing," Mayah explains.

"The Beckhams have always traded on being aspirational but also relatable. A very public family wobble reminds people they are still human." The danger, she warns, lies in the reaction. She added: "From a brand perspective, it only becomes damaging if it turns into silence, mixed messaging, or obvious sides being taken publicly. Right now it feels messy rather than malicious."
